The Challenge
Combat helicopters are vulnerable to sudden loss of transmission lubrication from enemy fire. Extending transmission life after lubrication loss is critical for crew survival — providing enough time for emergency landing.
The Test
Standard M-50 steel roller bearings were compared against Dicronite® lubricated bearings under sudden lubrication loss conditions. Tests ran at 10,000 rpm with an 11Kgf radial load.
The Result
Standard bearings failed in a maximum of 6 minutes. The Dicronite® bearing ran for the full 38-minute test duration — a six-fold increase in operational life, providing sufficient time for emergency landing.

The Challenge
A major roller chain manufacturer sought to reduce chain wear and maintenance frequency to improve uptime and reduce operational costs for end users.
The Test
Chains with heavy-duty wet lubricant (HD-4) were compared against chains with Dicronite® + HD-4. Run under a 533-pound load at 798 feet per minute for 132 hours.
The Results
Dicronite® treated chains showed 42% fewer dry joints, an average of 42% less chain elongation, and up to 90% less wear in best-case comparison. Result: longer chain life, increased gear life, lower operating temperatures.
